Comdata vs EFS (Fleet One): Fuel Card Plans, Discounts & Fees Compared

We are an independent directory. Prices and terms below come from each vendor’s own website on the date shown, and they change often, so confirm before you sign. Some outbound links are affiliate links and are always labeled; they never change what we include or how we order it. Disclosure.

Comdata and EFS are the two big legacy truck-stop payment networks, and many newer fuel cards run on top of one of them. For a small carrier the choice usually comes down to which chains you fuel at, because both publish discounts by chain and both have fine print about fleet size.

Frequently asked questions

Is Comdata the same as EFS?
No. Comdata is owned by Corpay; EFS and Fleet One cards are administered by WEX. Some third-party fuel cards, such as TCS, let you choose either platform.
Which is better for an owner-operator?
Look at where you fuel. Comdata publishes chain-by-chain discounts (largest at TA/Petro). Fleet One EDGE lists discounts at 4,500+ sites but the amount varies by location. Also compare app-based cards in our fuel card guide.
Do these cards need a credit check?
Both are applied for through the vendor and terms are set on approval; neither page we checked publishes credit requirements. Comdata says its discounts depend on paying invoices in full and on time.
